The Ovi Store is now Online,Live and Open for Business

Heads up y’all ! The Ovi Store is now online and live. The Official Nokia Conversations and Ovi Store Twitter accounts have confirmed that the Store should be up and running in most (if not all) regions around the globe. You can access it on your Nokia device (S40 or S60) or on your PC at Store.Ovi.com.

Ovi Store Launch

I can confirm the Store is up and online and working fine in India, Russia, UK and several other parts of the world. Unfortunately though it looks like the Middle East might be snubbed once again as the Store still denies anyone in the region permission to access it.

Nokia Ovi Store Deny Permission

I hope this is only a temporary issue but considering how they prevent the Middle East from using Ovi Share, I’m not getting my hopes up.

Anywho, if you’re able to get to the site, (or the Ovi Store application in your Download! App) you should be able to sign in with your Nokia Credentials and start browsing around the Ovi Store.

Here’s the Official Press Release :

Today, Ovi Store by Nokia is available globally to an estimated 50 million Nokia device owners across more than 50 Nokia devices including the forthcoming flagship device, the Nokia N97. Customers can visit store.ovi.com through their Nokia device browser to immediately begin downloading, personalizing and making their devices smarter and more fun with applications, games, videos, podcasts, productivity tools, web and location-based services and much more.

“Ovi Store is open for business and we’ve stocked the shelves with both local and global content for a broad range of Nokia devices,” said Tero Ojanperä, Executive Vice President, Nokia Services. “Ovi Store makes shopping for content and applications easy and fun for feature phone and smartphone owners alike.”

In available countries, customers can update their devices with the Ovi Store mobile application by selecting the Ovi Store icon in the Download! folder on their device. The mobile client is available in English, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish and supports operator billing in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain and the United Kingdom. Globally, credit card billing is available through the mobile application and the mobile website. Additional countries, languages, devices and features will be added throughout the year. AT&T plans to make Ovi Store available to its customers in the United States later this year.

“AT&T looks forward to introducing Ovi Store for our customers later this year,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “AT&T has a reputation for providing the most customer choice of content and applications and offering Ovi Store is in line with that strategy.”

Ovi Store is an evolving media service that consolidates Nokia’s existing content services into a one-stop-shop for free and paid content. Thousands of the content industry’s biggest names along with independent application developers are distributing their media, applications and games through Ovi Store. Content providers and application developers can continue to sign up to distribute their content through Ovi Store by visiting publish.ovi.com.

Find anything interesting in the Ovi Store ? Does the Store work/not work in your country ? Do let us know in the comments y’all.

Hey there Patil. You can try going to store.ovi.com on your device, and look for the download link to the client. Depending on which region you're in, you should be able to get it.

@CJ, Yesterday i checked store.ovi.mobi and i saw option to download client, its almost 3 mb, now using it, its sluggish but ok, may be my EDGE speed has something to do with it.

That problem actually happened to someone else using an N82 in India lol. Hope they sort that out soon.

I can access it via web browser but no app is available as yet. Also I noted that when I login with my OVI id, it sets my device as 5800XM, even if i change it to N82 , it returns back to 5800Xm

hi,I cannot access the Ovi store on my E75!i did refresh the content in the download section and also checked the Nokia extras section!it does not turn up!any tips??

Dang. Looks like the Ovi Store App isnt available in India yet. So far everyone in India's just using the store using the web browser and store.ovi.com over Wifi. If you use it over GPRS it seems Airtel people dont have it yet, but vodafone does. Uhh...or something like that lol.

But the download apps is not available at India

@CJ, I can't get this Application vis Download! in my E71 and N82. I am in India.
