The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic just got a firmware update to version 21.0.025 . Its previous firmware was v20.0.012.

The 5800 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.
The update has not come to Indian Region codes yet (at the time of publishing this post), so I havent been able to get a first hand experience of the new firmware yet. Remember you can update using the 5800’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your 5800 on your windows PC.
There’s no actual changelog out yet, but we will update this post as soon as we find one.
Update: NokiaAddict has posted up a small list of changes they’re noticed :
1. Quicker booting up – It seems to let you ‘take control’ a lot quicker than before.
2. As mentioned before you can make the menu button ‘breathe’ when the phone is in standby. It will flash twice if there is a missed call, message or email.
3. Music Player is showing BIG cover art – something that annoyed me in V20 was the fact the cover art was shrunk.
4. No longer switches predictive text off after you’ve used the Full Screen QWERTY keyboard and gone back to the regular keypad.
5. ‘Applications’ has been renamed ‘Apps’ – ‘Music Player’ is now ‘Music plyr.’ (These could be due to it using HK firmware?!)
6. Still no Widgety goodness on the home screen – it’s as it was in V20.
7. Web Browser isn’t working!!! I will try doing a hard reset I think.
8. Camera wise, there doesn’t seem to be any image improvements IMO – but it seems to work a little bit quicker.
9. Not had chance to test sound through a headset yet – I have personally had issues in V20 with a Stereo Bluetooth Headset so will be interested to check this out.
10. I think the handwriting recognition is improved – I’ve not used this much, but it seems better.
11. During text entry pressing ‘*’ key brings up a fullscreen selection of characters.Yep – the web browser WAS broken – a hard reset (undoing all of the UDP) – fixed it though.
I must say the phone is noticeably ’snappier’, the Theme Effects seem quicker, as does the screen rotate. I’ll post screen grabs later.
Have you updated your 5800 to this new firmware yet ? Find anything new ? Do let us know, in the comments section.
Hey there ! Have you tried Nokia Software Updater seperately ? I've just had more luck with that app to be honest.
i am having a problem downloading/updating my 5800 device software, for some reason, it stops loading between after 15-18Mb download. My internet connection is fine. I've tried disabling all my firewall protection, reset couple of times but still didn't work. I'm using the latest Nokia Ovi Suite program.

Hey There GP,The Time keeping problem might be because your operator time keeps changing. If you switch auto-time-update off, this should stop, hopefully. :)Have you tried updating via Nokia's software updater or OTA on your device ?
