Evolution of the Nokia Logo

Fun fact for the week (or month?). I was reading up on the Evolution of Logos earlier today, and one particular case caught my eye. The Evolution of the Nokia Logo :

Evolution of Nokia Logo

Peculiar you might think ? Not really, if you read the History of Nokia on the Nokia site, you’ll find out that Nokia has its roots in paper, rubber, and cables. Its really pretty neat to see how the company evolved from that, to the Mobile Industry giant it is now, and how its logo evolved with it.

The current logo is now :

And you have to admit, that’s one of the best Tag lines any company has come up with. Nokia really did “Connect People“, through its mobile phones and multimedia computers.
More recently, the meaning of Nokia’s Tag line has also evolved. Nokia continues to “Connect People“, but not only through its phones. Now its also through its various online services and applications, like Share on Ovi where you post an unlimited amount of pictures or videos online to share with your friends. NokiaviNe allows you to share your journeys with your friends. Nokia Friend View allows you to tell people where you are and who’s nearby. Nokia Messaging helps you check your emails and keep in touch. I could go on and on really, these are just a few from Nokia’s vast Catalog. Nowadays when you buy a Nokia phone, you dont just get the phone, you get access to all these services too, which really does help you “connect” to your peers.

Its nice to see a company evolve in the right direction. While Nokia has been a pioneer in a lot of things, they still have a couple things to catch up on.

I for one, cant wait to see where its headed next.
