Nokia DT-29 lovin’

Aaron over at theN82blog, had just posted today, about how wonderful an accessory the Nokia DT-29 Phone Stand is, and how Nokia should consider selling it separately.

I totally agree ! If you havent heard of it before, the Nokia DT-29 is a phone stand that ships with the retail package of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Its even has a lanyard cable so that you can attach it to your phone and carry it around.

Its purpose is simple, its a stand that lets your device stand by itself so that you can watch videos. In this way its essentially like the N96′s kickstand, enabling you to prop up any device for viewing, at more or less the same angle as the N96′s kickstand.

You’d think that it only suits the 5800, but you’d be completely wrong there. The DT-29 is adjustable so that you can widen up or narrow down the distance between the two handles to adjust the inclination angle of your device and hence it suits any device.

And not just Nokia devices, I mean ANY device :

This simple little attachment can really make viewing videos on your device much more comfortable. And not just viewing videos, the stand also allows you to prop your phone so it can record video, or take a self-timer picture or two. Nokia should really consider shipping this with every multimedia device in its fleet or atleast sell it seperately.

Here are a couple more pictures of how a device is propt up with the Nokia DT-29 :

Unfortunately it ONLY ships with the 5800 XpressMusic for now. I am hoping Nokia considers selling it separately (and not at a crazy extravagant price) or bundles it with more phones.

Is is a rubber kind of material or pure plastic? The new Nokia devices are often made from glossy piano black plastic which is so easy to scratch or dim.

i'll buy a n900 next week, and i thinkin to keep de stand before sell my 5800, does n900 fit in the stand?

The N900 has a prop-up stand that comes out right under the camera cover :D so you wont actually need the old stand, to be honest. Still worth keeping for other phones though.
