Handcase software and games make the move to Symbian

Just got an email from the Director over at Handcase, over the weekend. Apparently, they are going to develop for Symbian also !

Handcase is a company that previously only made applications for the Palm OS has decided to come on over to the Symbian side. That means about 320 applications from Handcase are soon going to be released for the Symbian platform.

Check out the press release, after the break.

“The Handcase comes to evaluating some time the migration of its extensive portfolio of software and games for other mobile platforms.” says , Ricardo Garay director of Handcase.

Why Symbian?

“Why is the largest platform in terms of volume of users. We can not ignore the need for software and games for users of Symbian, and a integrated version proposed by Symbian Foundation, reducing the cost and time for the porting.
And users of Symbian, may have many choices of software and games of quality, it has already recognized for Palm.” Ricardo explains.

According Garay, in the future, we must assess what will be the third platform, whether Linux or Windows Mobile. But the plans are well thought, because with a catalog of more than three hundred products, the migration is not easy nor quick, much less is cheap. “For a small developer, who has ten, twenty or even fifty products, it is easier. For us, with more than three hundred products, everything is more complicated. But we must make it clear that we will not abandon the Palm, our plan of four hundred products for Palm, follows.” Sets Ricardo.

It’ll take a bit of time for them to port over each and every application in their library but this is great news for the Symbian community.

In the meanwhile, Handcase has a few of their freeware available to check out using a Palm to Symbian emulator available on the site.
