Once subscribers set up an account on http://music.nokia.ae, they can access the service through their computer or mobile device.
Individual tracks, irrespective of language or genre, will cost AED 3 and complete albums will be priced at AED 30. Additionally, subscribers can also enjoy unlimited PC streaming of the entire online catalog at a competitive price of just AED 20 per month.
Other online features include a 30 second preview of all tracks and dynamic recommendations based on musical preferences. Tracks can be added to a ‘wishlist’ for later purchase and the handy ‘download history’ feature allows users to return to purchased content if desired.
Fresh tracks and albums will be made available periodically and specially compiled playlists, specific to this region, will help music lovers discover more.
The UAE was selected for its high internet penetration and the fact that more than half of the target audience is comfortable shopping online. “… according to our research, 80% of regular mobile and internet users in the UAE are using their mobile device to listen to music, with half of them doing so on a daily basis,” added Ayman Chalhoub, business manager, Music, Nokia MENA.
The Nokia Music PC software, that helps manage and synchronize music libraries, is also free to download through the website and allows easy transfer songs to compatible Nokia devices.
While there are no limits to the number of transfers permitted for purchased songs, the Windows Media DRM (Digital Rights Management) platform will only allow a maximum of 10 CDs to be burnt.
