I use Share on Ovi pretty reguarly these days, to upload and share pictures from My Travels. Today I logged in and noticed a few changes in the general look of Share on Ovi. All for the better, thankfully !
Aapo Bovellan, of Ovi, had announced a couple days ago that these changes would roll out across the whole site, so it comes as no surprise, really. The Ovi Blog has yet to acknowledge these changes though, but to be honest, the blog isnt really updated that regularly.
Here’s whats been touched up over at Ovi :
(Note: You may need to sign into Ovi, to see some of these features)
First up, the Navigation bar at the top has been changed, with the new Ovi Icons :
Looks much better now in my opinion.
The Home page on Share on Ovi‘s gotten a makeover :
It now does a much better job of listing your recently uploaded media. It lists your comments and people sharing with you. It also lists your contacts recent updates seperately, instead of one giant mess like it was before.
Also new, is the fact that you can now see your inbox status right under your username and profile link, on the right sidebar.
I didnt even know I had a message !
The Uploader has also gotten a renovation. Now there’s the simple uploader :
The drag and drop uploader :
And instructions on how to upload by phone :
I personally still use the Share on Ovi‘s Windows Xp internet publisher feature. More convinient for me on my computer.
Also tweaked a little bit, is the channel settings :
The additional options are hidden, so as not to confuse the average user, but can be viewed by click the icon to the side of it. Also, now you can choose who can access the original resolution images in your channels :
I’m not sure if this was a feature already present, but I only discovered it today.
As of right now, it doesnt look like anything else has changed though. I’ll update this post if I notice anything.
All in all, not too shabby ! To be honest, I still think Share on Ovi doesnt have a method to organize your media as easily as Flickr does, but it sure looks like they are headed in the right direction.
