Its pretty awesome to see how everyone gets into the Independence Day spirit here. Its very uplifting in a way.
Here’s a few pics I took with my N82 around Manipal and Udupi today, August the 15th.

The Manipal Food court was all decked in the safron, white and green. My personal highlight was seeing the Subway Outlet with the Indian Flag :
There’s just something so weird about that image lol. There were also a couple of crazy people riding around on motorbikes, waving the flag around. I managed to catch a shot of one, near the Manipal EDU building :
And no, I was not responsible for that fallen flower pot at the bottom of the image. Although it does make for a hilarious picture !
Right infront of the library wing of the EDU building, they put up this flag pole with the Indian Flag hoisted right to the top :
It wasnt really a very breezy day, so the flag wasnt waving as much as I wanted it to.
Here’s a close up of the base of the flag pole. A model of the Lion Capital of Ashoka :
Its a pretty common sight here in India.
Inside the EDU bulding, the Cafe Coffee Day outlet (Kind of the Indian version of Starbucks) was feeling very patriotic with the Indian flag pasted almost everywhere :
They were even sprouted on the hanging lamps :
Pretty effin’ cool !
On the way to Udupi, I saw even more signs of patriotism around the place. The Honda Showroom had a huge banner of the Indian Flag :
There was even a Flag hoisted at the Bus station in Udupi :
Indeed, everyone was in the mood. Even the buses had Flags on them :
Many shops were making a huge profit on sellings flags. I guess this is probably the only time they really sell :
The Indian flag at a contruction site :
Random shops in Udupi with the Indian Flag :
I even found a shop selling flower garlands in the colors of the Indian Flag :
Safron, white and green FTW, eh ?
I also saw this hilarious mannequin above, poised to hold a small flag :
Then I took this picture, near the Udupi service bus stop :
Came out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Even the local church was preachin patriotism :

And some random building :
Indeed, everyone was very proud of this day. And lastly, favourite picture that I took :
