Nokia Device in The Dark Knight is not real, says Nokia

Mostly everyone in the Nokia Symbian Blogosphere might have already heard of the Touch screen Nokia device codenamed “Nokia Tube” also known as the “5800 XpressMedia” . Apparently many people, including me, noticed that it made a special cameo role in the latest Batman flick The Dark Knight.

Squint at the grainy snaps and you can just about make out its touchy feely form :

If you’ve already seen the film, you know that Morgan Freeman gets to handle the phone during a scene.

Well Nokia has gone on record to say that the device you saw is not in production at all :

In the summer blockbuster, The Dark Knight, a Nokia device is prominently featured. We worked closely with the producers of The Dark Knight to develop an appropriate device that would suit the technology-savvy character of Batman. The Nokia device used in the film is not a commercial product – at this point.

Notice how they said “At this Point” .
