Eesh . What is up with Nokia’s Quality these days ? One of the reasons i stuck with my Nokia N82 over my ol’Nokia N95 was that i figured i’d have to worry about it breaking , less than i did with my N95.Less moving parts yada yada.
And now it goes and does just that. Its not even a month old ! Agreed, its a minor issue as its just one small dead pixel only in Camera mode and it doesnt appear on any of the pictures i’ve tried it out with. But its still so dang annoying.
Now i have to drag my behind to the Nokia service center in Udipi – Manipal and argue with them to fix it since its still on warranty. Knowing them it’ll probably take days ( or weeks or months or years ) to get it fixed.
I am SO annoyed right now !
A quick google search later i found out that this problem is a little common. I even found a thread about this problem at Nokia-asia’s forum.
User “strummer” there says this :
I have it too, and it is a dead pixel on the camera CCD chip. You can identify it by following: It’s only visible in photo mode, not video. When you zoom in photo mode, it moves on the screen, i.e. stays at the same place in the picture. The reason why it is visible on the screen is probably the interpolation, which makes it appear bigger than it truly is. Also, it’s invisible on the resulting photos, as it gets lost in the noise. I have experimented a bit and have managed to only get one photo under very specific circumstances where I could see it on the photo when zooming closely in.
Sigh.

Haha yeah i used to have an N95 too. I used an N82 for a day and the flash just blew me away so i traded up for one. The night shots are way better than anything led dual/single can accomplish. If its a yellow tint problem, your lcd might be messed up. So you'll definitely want to get that checked at a service centre. But yeah, it'll probably take a while to come back to you. They can take anywhere from a week to a month.
Ok...I have an N95 8GB and i love it! I use it more for watching videos, net surfing (on WiFi once am home...Airtel broadband is pure NIRVANA, one of the good things to come out of the recent past...) and reading ebooks. But the camera for night shots is rubbish. In a pub i still end up with shots which look as if there was no flash at all...Hence am thinking of getting the N82 (my credit card companies are already rejoicing! :-))Bur my N95 hsa one problem i think...the top half of the display (vertically) seems to be dimmer (kind of a yellow tint) compared to the bottom half...you can only see it on a white background, like a ebook with black text on a white background! dont know what is the cause for that...and i don't want to take it the Nokia Care Centre cause it may come back worse than what it is now...Anyways, i love the photos of your travel. Keep up the good work please...and travel more :-) Am using your blog/travel pics to plan my own outings...hope you don't mind. Thanks and Regards Anupam
To be honest, the Nokia service center here said they cant fix it because "its a small problem" and that "i should wait till it gets worse" which makes no sense at all ! *sigh*You can try at your local service center. Hope you get better results than I lol.
